Foxfield Races to Return at Full Capacity on October 3rd

Tickets on Sale Soon for Central Virginia’s Signature Steeplechase Event

(Charlottesville, VA – June 22, 2021) – The Foxfield Races, Central Virginia’s signature steeplechase event, will return with full spectator capacity on Sunday, October 3.  Under new local management, the Foxfield Races are benefiting from unprecedented levels of strategic and financial investment in the racing and hospitality experience.  The result will be a stronger field of horses and riders, a safer and more enjoyable experience for attendees, and the beginning of a major long-term philanthropic partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville.

A completely redesigned website and online ticketing system allows spectators to better visualize locations throughout the course and understand the benefits of each section.  Ticket sales via the new website – www.foxfieldraces.com – will go live soon so check the website and social media for updates.

“We are improving the race day experience across the board, starting with the ticket buying experience,” said Kelsey Cox, executive director of the Foxfield Races. “The fall races are an ideal time to reconnect with friends and family during one of the most beautiful weekends on the calendar in Central Virginia. Foxfield is streamlining the ticketing process, promoting inclusivity, and welcoming new – and returning – friends to the race course, all as part of a long-term plan to establish the Foxfield Races as one of the premier races in the National Steeplechase Association circuit.”

A portion of every ticket sold will help support the revitalization of the Southwood Mobile Home Park into a new 1,100 mixed-income community without any resident displacement.

“Foxfield is committed to working to engage and benefit diverse members of our community,” said Dr. Reynolds Cowles, president of the Foxfield Board of Managers. “Our new partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville will generate financial support, visibility, and programmatic opportunities to move their mission forward in a meaningful and authentic way.”

“We were really impressed with the new vision for Foxfield,” said Habitat President and CEO Dan Rosensweig. “In particular, Kelsey and the Board are intent on reimagining the grounds as a vital ‘commons,’ a place for people from all walks of life to come together. As a non-profit developer of mixed-income, inclusive communities, we saw this partnership as a great fit.”

As part of a new Corporate Sponsorship Program to further elevate the race day experience, Foxfield will also debut fully catered trackside tents directly adjacent to the finish line at the fall races to a limited number of sponsors.  These groups will enjoy VIP treatment from the entrance gate to the final race. More than half of the ten available tents have already been claimed. Additional corporate sponsorship opportunities are also now available which will provide brand visibility and proceeds that will support the Habitat partnership, the enhanced racing purse structure, and the long-term financial foundation for the Foxfield grounds and races.
