NEW 9/20/06 The Foxfield Races has 72 horses coming to race on Sunday, September 24th. These top quality thoroughbreds entered in 3 steeplechase races and 3 flat races will be running between 1:30 and 4:30 PM. The National Steeplechase Association, governing organization for the Foxfield Races, has rated the Foxfield track as “Excellent”, therefore attracting such a large number of horses from all over the east coast. After one of the driest summers in the history of Virginia, Foxfield attributes the excellent track conditions to late summer rains and the superior endeavors of Foxfield’s Race Course Superintendent Thomas Shifflett and his staff.

ACAC will be hosting a Bounce House next to the FoxDen Tent. ACAC will also set up a speed and agility course for children over 6 that will be open from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. NEW A long time participant in the FoxDen Children’s Tent, The Little Gym is turning 30! On Sept. 24th, The Little Gym of Charlottesville invites local residents to celebrate the big day and experience its fun, gymnastics-based programs firsthand. The Awesome Birthday Bash will feature demonstrations by our Exhibition Team the "Jets", fun activities on our obstacle course in the Family Day Tent for kids and parents, & of course, free 30th Birthday Temporary Tattooes for all!

While The Little Gym of Charlottesville has been open since September 1, 1994, the first The Little gym location opened in 1976 in Bellevue, Wash.

The Little Gym of Charlottesville teaches children between the ages of 4 months and 12 years to develop motor skills through gymnastics, karate, dance, sports skills and other curriculum-based programs. Programs are taught by trained instuctors in a fun, non-competitive environment.

FOXFIELD SELECTS CHARLOTESVILLE/ALBEMARLE RESCUE SQUAD AS BENEFICIARY FOR THIS YEAR’S FAMILY DAY AT FOXFIELD RACES, SEPTEMBER 24, 2006

The University of Virginia Department of Emergency Medicine and the Charlottesville/Albemarle Rescue Squad team with Foxfield to provide Emergency Services at the Races. This partnership means that Foxfield patrons will have immediate access to state of the art medical care without leaving the venue. Named SEMM, Special Events Medical Management, this collaborative effort of the UVA Dept. of Emergency Medicine and the Charlottesville/Albemarle Rescue Squad is a direct result of the Scott Stadium expansion project, therefore allowing many patrons, depending upon the seriousness of the injury, to be treated on site instead of being transported to the hospital. The Foxfield Races will have an experienced team of Emergency Management Professionals, with the equipment, and access to resources, to effectively deal with any incident of any size. This is the 3rd Fall Race Meet that Foxfield and SEMM have partnered in our commitment to the safety of our patrons, jockeys, and horses. Traffic Patterns. To ease the traffic congestion coming into Foxfield has a driving plan for every patron and parking area. The plan is on your parking pass. Please hang your pre-purchased parking pass from your rearview mirror before approaching Foxfield as this will speed traffic. If you have a pre-purchased Invitation Parking Ticket (acid green with IP printed in black), please take 250 to the Owensville Road and turn right onto Garth Road and proceed to Gates #1 and #2 for direct access to the Invitation Parking area. If you have a reserved parking area in the Pink, Yellow, Orange, Green or Chalet Tent Areas, please take Garth Road from Charlottesville and enter through the East Gate. If you have a reserved parking place in the Purple, Blue or South Hill Areas, please take Garth Road from Charlottesville and enter through the Main Gate (by the airplanehanger). No tickets will be sold at the gate on race day. All tickets for Foxfield, including parking, must be pre-purchased. If you arrive at the gate without a ticket or parking pass you will be waved past the gate. Tickets will be for sale, at Mincer’s, Greenberry’s Barracks Road, Fashion Square Mall, Timberlake Drug Store on the Downtown Mall, Crawford Saddlery in Ruckersville.

#1 The Autumn Maiden Claiming Hurdle – Purse $10,000. Hurdle for maidens, Three Years Old and Upward. About Two Miles and One Furlong over National Fences. Sponsored by Harold Howard, Auto Sales Professional and WCAV CBS 19, WVAW ABC 16, and WAHU Fox 27.

#2 The Chef’s Plate – Training Flat – Amateur, honoring Chef Robert E. Johnson from the Aberdeen Barn. With $500 awarded to the owner and $500 awarded to the trainer. About One Mile and One Quarter on the Turf. This race is part of the VSA Flat Series. Sponsored by Sharon Donovan, Realtor.

#3 The Blue Ridge – Conditioned Claiming Hurdle – Purse $10,000, Hurdle. For Four-Year-Olds and Upward which have never won two races. About Two Miles and One Furlong over National Fences. Sponsored by The Boar’s Head Inn.

#4 The Jack Eicher Memorial Maiden Hurdle. Purse - $15,000. For Three-Year-Olds and Upwards. About Two Miles and One Furlong over National Fences. Sponsored by Crown – Porsche.

#5The Foxfield Chase – Amateur Training Flat . With $500 awarded to the owner and $500 awarded to the trainer. For Three – Year-Olds and Upward. About Two Miles on the Turf. This race is part of the VSA Flat Series. Sponsored by Clear Channel Radio.

#6 The Albemarle Sprint – Virginia Bred or Sired Flat. Purse $5,000. Flat. For Three-Year-Olds and Upward, Virginia Bred or Sired. About One Mile and One Furlong on the Turf. This race is a qualifying race for the Old Dominion Turf Championship. Sponsored by the Virginia Thoroughbred Association and the Virginia Horseman’s Benevolent & Protective Association.
